La Reine Matilde

Built for Julia's birthday in 2002 and named for Queen Matilde , wife of William the Conqueror , purported creator of the Bayeux Tapestry , and grandmother-in-law of our hero, Eleanor of Aquitaine , this kayak is one of Chesapeake Light Craft 's Mill Creek 13's.

Constructed of 4mm and 6mm marine grade plywood and sheathed in fiberglass cloth set in epoxy, La Reine Matilde should be a tough, stable boat for Julia's adventures in the Delta.
