Elco Motor Launch: HMML 239

As part of my ongoing interest and research into the Motor Launches (ML's) designed and built by Elco in 1915-16 for the Royal Navy I've decided to build a scale model. Though I don't yet have any pictures of his ML, I've chosen ML 239 - commanded by Lieut. Cmdr Arthur G. Watts, RNVR, DSO - as it might have appeared during the St. George's Day raid on Zeebrugge.

My approach in the model's construction is to erect molds taken from the one known lines drawing (really just a study plan) included by William Nutting in his book The Cinderellas of the Fleet. I'll then install ribbands and frame the model using steam bent oak. The keel will also be out of oak.

As construction progresses I'll post more pictures. The photo album allows for an RSS feed so you can monitor updates if you are so inclined.
