Norwegian Pram
Material Sources
Here I'll keep a running list of the sources and suppliers for the hardware, wood, tools, sails, etc. I'll be purchasing (or otherwise acquiring) during construction.
- Lee Valley Tools - source of the how-to-build book and numerous tools
- Bristol Bronze - Roger Winiarski's excellent source for high-quality, hard-to-find bronze fittings
- Faering Design - Chip Stulen sells copper fasteners, nails, and roves. Tools too!
- Jamestown Distributors - source of all sorts of odds-'n'-ends, fasteners, threaded rod, Dolphinite, paint, etc.
- Duck Trap Woodworking - they make nice boatbuilding tools: riveting hammers, backing irons, etc.
- HandLoggers - Simon recommended Tim Mahoney's company as being particularly boat-builder friendly - good source for hardwoods
- Woods Unlimited - about the only source I've found in the Bay Area for Port Orford Cedar right now
- The East Bay Conservation Corps - great source for recycled lumber of all sorts
- MacBeath Hardwood - source of, well, hardwoods
- The Sailloft According to Simon, Michele Stevens has the pattern on file for the Norwegian Pram and has provided him with sails in the past
- Shaw and Tenney, Inc. - source of fine oars and paddles (note: Simon includes plans for making one's own oars along with the pram)
